For a small company to keep up with the rapidly changing legislation on food supplements next to going about one's business is almost impossible.
We joined the Health Food Manufacturer's Association (HFMA) because it is the UK's authoritative voice of the natural health industry and supports the interests of its members with legislators and regulators.
The HFMA's promotion of industry best practice for product quality and safety was something we did not need their help with, Quality Control for Aloeride® aloe vera is already doing that particularly well. We produce to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and are meticulous in our laboratory analyses. We needed help with finding the legally allowed wording for our food supplements, so we had both 2011 human Aloeride® aloe vera pack text and equine Aloeride® aloe vera carton text re-written for us by the Labelling, Advertising and Promotions Advice Division of the HFMA. Changing this website's text to what is allowed for a food supplement under EU law is currently in progress.
In respect of food supplements the public will see major changes on the shops shelves after April 2011 and it will be interesting to see how (if) they will respond to the latest European legislation. If you want to hold on to your right to your food supplements then act upton this advice.
