Product Description

Food intolerance is thought to affect as many as 45% of the UK population and chances are it may be little different where you live. Allergy UK links food intolerance a.k.a. food sensitivity to a wide range of symptoms for which people often are given symptom modifying medication. Have a look how potential consequences of food sensitivity or food intolerance are managed in a conventional medical way, then check if your symptoms are on this list. Below are some examples of food sensitivity tests we did at the Integrated Medicine Practice.

food-sensitivity-1.jpgJessica's parents followed the conventional medical route including seeing a consultant dermatologists but got no further to a solution to her severe juvenile eczema. Prescribed medication didn't keep her symptoms under control. Test result: outspoken food sensitivity reaction to gluten (gliaden) which made one wonder about a possible underlying Coeliac Disease; clear food sensitivity to garlic and wheat; mild food sensitivity to cow's milk egg white, hazelnuts and soya beans. Outcome: difficult finding foodstuff that complied with the restrictive diet, Jessica was symptom free after 2 weeks on full trigger exclusion with Aloeride® taken as a buffer, Jessica was reviewed at hospital where this test was pooh-poohed and skin prick testing was done that showed that she wasn't allergic to anything... (take note, that tests IgE as opposed to IgG reaction), Coeliac test was negative, parents were strongly advised to put her back on a 'normal' diet and to see a dietician, Jessica's eczema gradually returned, her parents have witnessed and are fully aware of the value of our test and intend to re-implement gluten and wheat exclusion with a rotation diet for the other triggers which should be more manageable than the full exclusion they did at first.

food-sensitivity-2.jpgMankiret's parents also followed the conventional medical route for her itchy dry eczema that felt irritating all the time (scratching at night often with bleeding). Their general practitioner had prescribed steroids creams which relieved matters temporarilly. Now bear in mind that this is a young child in a lovely, traditional Indian family that follows a traditional Indian diet. Test result: very outspoken food sensitivity reaction to cow's milk; marked food sensitivity to chilli pepper and lentils (part of staple Indian diet); clear food sensitivity to garlic, gluten and wheat (chapatis, nan bread); borderline food sensitivity to almond, cashew, coconut, corn (maize), hazelnut, lamb, peas, rice and soya bean; negligible (?) sensitivity to beef, buckwheat, cherry, millet, mustard seed, peanut, peppers and paprika, potato, stringbean and yeast. Outcome: reportedly an easy transition into her exclusion diet with a 3-4 day rotation for the borderline and 'negligible' items. Mankiret's dry eczema improved swiftly with some Aloeride® taken as a buffer.

food-sensitivity-3.jpgKashif presented with a long history of diarrhoea predominant IBS. He had already experimented with foods but couldn't establish any pattern or clear food trigger. Hospital examination showed minor distal oesophagitis with a normal stomach, normal duodenum and normal Coeliac test. He has had food poisoning abroad with subsequent hospital admission for intravenous antibiotics. Although this test shows up one outspoken trigger, others would make significant impact only on combining them, my conclusion is that in respect of his IBS there must be another factor. Test result: very outspoken food sensitivity reaction to cow's milk; borderline food sensitivity to carrot, egg white, egg yolk, peppers, potato. string bean and wheat; negligible (?) sensitivity to gluten (gliaden), lime, peach, rye, soya bean and yeast. Outcome: elimination of cow's milk helped to stabilise matters but hasn't resolved the problem completely.

food-sensitivity-4.jpgKaren presented with mild fatigue, generalised joint problems and some bloating. Test result: outspoken food sensitivity reaction to egg white; clear food sensitivity to egg yolk; borderline food sensitivity to brazil nuts; negligible (?) sensitivity to cashew nuts, cow's milks and yeast. Outcome: almost instant improvement in energy and bloating. Retrospectively she remarked that she always had a runny nose and a bit of a dip some 20-30 minutes after breakfast which she contributed to orange juice (hence she tried several brands), she never suspected the eggs she has every morning to be the real culprit. Karen who is a former beauty consultant uses Aloeride® as a buffer that by the way also improved her skin and her nails.

food-sensitivity-5.jpgLibby said that she had been getting really bloated for years, no pattern at all. She gets a phlegmy cough after tomatoes, her bowel movement is regular but occasionally without pattern diarrhoea. She has an IgE (acute) allergy to pumpkin seeds, nut allergy tested positive in Leicester General Hospital but nothing happens when she eats them. Test result: outspoken food sensitivity reaction to cow's milk; borderline food sensitivity to sesame seed; negligible (?) sensitivity to cashew, corn (maize), garlic, mint mix, nutmeg/peppercorn, parsley, pork and yeast. Outcome: elimination of dairy (cow's milk based) products has made a massive difference to her, she uses Aloeride® as a buffer.

food-sensitivity-6.jpgJo presented 14 years ago with IBS and at the time I advised her to take this test. She considered it too expensive then. So, 14 years of IBS later, she presented with IBS so I again suggested this test and started her on Aloeride®. Shortly after her feedback was: "Aloeride is proving helpful. The liquid Alovera is available on half price offer at Holland and Barrets at the moment. Is it worth buying?" My reply was: "Aloeride® is proving helpful yet you want to experiment. I suggest you have a good read of the Aloeride® factsheet before you do." Bear in mind, when you look at Jo's test results, that her favourite (and very frequently consumed) food is pastry. Test result: clear food sensitivity reaction to both egg white and egg yolk; mild food sensitivity to bread and cow's milk; negligible (?) sensitivity to cashew, gluten (gliadin), peanut, pork and wheat. Outcome: elimination of trigger foods predictably made a huge difference to her, she uses a little Aloeride® as a buffer. She since said she wished she'd done this test 14 years ago...

This 113-food-items food sensitivity test is reliable. It tests for the hidden, delayed immune reactions to common foods. It is a pin-prick test so children as well as squeamish adults find it easy to do. Please note that children younger than 8 have not fully developed their immune system, so results cannot be 100% complete.

You should return the sample to the laboratory via the pre-paid box + envelop in the UK or via a Courier of your choice if you live abroad. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR SAMPLE DOES NOT ARRIVE AT THE LABORATORY JUST BEFORE THE WEEKEND, INSTEAD GET IT TO ARRIVE IN THE EARLY PART OF A WEEK.

  1. caused by food sensitivity

Posted by Karen Best on 6th Jul 2010

As I had been so low for such a long period of time and I was suffering from what I thought was hayfever symptoms, Han recommended a food intolerance test, which I did. This test showed that my immune system was not tolerating egg yolk and whites and brazil nuts. All of these I ate every day. I stopped both eggs and nuts and within 2 weeks my energy levels further increased and hayfever symptoms disappeared.

  2. difference has been amazing

Posted by Diane Allen on 28th Jun 2010

I had classic IBS - upset stomach, diarrhoea, bloating, wind, you name it! Every day I suffered from bad diarrhoea and it had got to the point where I couldn’t leave the house, even to go shopping, without planning my route via the local toilets. I was at a really low ebb and I have three children and I knew I had to do something because I was missing the best bits of their lives.

Taking the 113 test truly was the best thing I ever did, the difference has been amazing! I still have very mild IBS but as long as I avoid the foods that I can’t have I’m fine. My life has changed so much. I can now go to my children’s school plays, on trips and attend appointments without worrying. YorkTest has changed everything, now I look forward to things and can join in everything, I’m even learning to drive and that would never have been possible before the test.
